FAQs
Research supports cinnamon's role in improving insulin sensitivity and slowing glucose absorption in the intestine. A typical study dose is 1–6 grams per day (roughly 1/2 to 2 teaspoons). Cinnamaldehyde — cinnamon's primary bioactive — may mimic insulin. For culinary use, 1/2 to 1 teaspoon daily in chai, smoothies or food provides meaningful benefits as part of a balanced diet.
Add 1/2 teaspoon to your morning chai or oatmeal for a warming start. Mix into smoothies, yoghurt and overnight oats. Use in baking — cakes, cookies, muffins, banana bread. Add to biryani masala, halwa and Indian desserts. Stir into warm milk with honey for a calming bedtime drink. A pinch in morning coffee adds depth and natural warmth.
Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin which can be harmful in large amounts over time. For daily regular consumption (medicinally), Ceylon cinnamon powder is recommended as it contains much lower coumarin. In normal culinary quantities (1/4 to 1 teaspoon per day), regular Cassia cinnamon is considered safe for most healthy adults. Those with liver conditions should prefer Ceylon.
Boil 1 cup of water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder and stir. Steep for 5 minutes. Strain if needed. Add honey and lemon to taste. Drink warm first thing in the morning. This simple drink is traditionally used for blood sugar management, digestive support and weight management as part of an Ayurvedic morning routine.
